I'm curious how Blender came into this. Did you use it for the lineart or something like that?

all the drawn stuff was done in csp, i used blender's compositing tools to add effects like the subtle chromatic aberration and grain :]

I really dig the line weight on this, it makes the angular design pop a lot more. The pose is really good too, it’s a simple standing pose but there’s so much personality expressed with just body language.

The basis of a great piece is here, the pose, facial expression and background are great, but the colors are my biggest problem with it.

Her dark brown top and outlines in combination with her reds being the same color as the background characters makes her blend in too much with said background.

I understand the decision to give her a dark reddish brown, since it’s a darker version version of one of her most prominent color. But I feel a dark blue or teal would have worked better, as blue is also super prominent in her design and would contrast more with the red background.

Speaking of the background, all I would change is making it a darker red.

Keep in mind none of this criticism is to try and demoralize you or to say your art sucks and you should quit. In fact, I generally love your art and it inspires me to be a better artist myself. I’m telling you all this because I want you to be the best artist you can be.

I appreciate the feedback greatly! I can understand where you are coming from and will try to make palettes that pop out more with each other, even if i like unifying them a bit.

Love how stylized this is, I'd make the focus on Mario rather than the rainbow trail, since he's the most detailed thing on the image, essentially making half the image empty space

Thanks! Actually the empty space originally had the text "Happy Mar10 Day!" on the right, but I removed it when uploading it here since, well it's not March 10th anymore lol

There's definitely and improvement between this and the old one, the facial anatomy is way better, the folds in the clothing are a nice touch and while the hands could be better, it's a big step up from the 3 fingered hand in the old drawing.

Speaking on the hands. Her ring finger seems to be smaller than every other finger on her hand, and the lines separating the fingers go way past the knuckles. I know this is a super generic response that everyone gives, but I recommend using your own hands as reference, it really does help a lot.

The "ew" censor also gives off the impression that you don't really like drawing hands (Which I totally get, I used to struggle with hands a lot, and still sometimes do). Don't be afraid to draw hands, you're only going to improve if you keep practicing.

Otherwise, this looks great!
